Alex has been cast as the man in a gripping new play by Nina Segal. The play, In the Night Time (Before the Sun Rises) is the story of a young couple who try to calm their screaming child. That’s just the start because according to the Gate’s Website “The world premiere of Nina Segal’s In the Night Time (Before the Sun Rises)takes a hallucinatory look at one couple’s experience of having their first baby.”
In a blog post on the Gate Theatre website, playwright Nina Segal suggests,
“It often feels, to me at least, like all acts of memory are acts of storytelling; and all storytelling is an act of choosing a narrative and forgetting (intentionally or otherwise) all others. I am interested in theatre as a form of collective storytelling, a collective selecting and collective forgetting, and in the worth and intention of stories – to entertain, to educate, to soothe, to warn, to broker peace or incite war, to pass on knowledge or presence or faith.”
