It is fantastic news that Alex Waldmann has been cast as the Bastard in the Globe’s production of King John. In 2012. Alex played the title role to great acclaim in the RSC’s version directed by Maria Aberg. Indeed, it’s all change, because Jo Stone-Fewings who has been cast in the title role played the Bastard in the RSC’s 2002. That production was directed by current RSC Artistic director, Greg Doran.
The production is touring. It’s first stop is Temple Church and then it tours to the Holy Sepulchre in Northampton then to Salisbury Cathedral and finishing its run at Shakespeare’s Globe.
